A classic example of Periodontal Disease (aka "gum disease" ) where patient complained of swollen gums, redness, pain and itching in gums due to aggressive food lodgement and bad breath. On clinical examination, pseudo pockets were diagnosed in upper left back region which was the main complain of the patient.
A simple Nonsurgical Periodontal Therapy was performed and patient was recalled after 10 days. Above are the pictures of before and after treatment. One can appreciate normal healthy pink gums after the treatment free of swelling, pain and bad breath. Pseudo pockets have healed. Patient is now chewing from both the sides.
Not all cases land up to Surgical Periodontal Therapy, with proper diagnosis and treatment planning best results can be achieved with Nonsurgical Treatment also.
Don't be afraid to visit your Periodontist for any gum related problems. What you see as nothing can be something!!

Case of the month!!
Young, independent lady complained of dark deposits on her teeth. On examination it was found, she suffered from chronic trismus (reduced mouth opening), vertical bands on the right buccal mucosa and white lesion in the right muccobuccal fold. Her condition was more severe than she had imagined it to be.
Thorough counselling was done to know the root cause of her tobacco habit at a very young age. It was hence found that her chronic habit of tobacco chewing was due to childhood trauma she suffered. Left her home at an early age.
Lack of Love and Compassion made her dependent on harmful stuff that bought her external happiness. Root cause of any illness is always psychosomatic. If we identify the cause and eliminate it, disease will cure automatically.
Patient was explained about the cause and effect of her current dental condition and tobacco habit. She expressed her willingness to leave the habit.
Thorough deep scaling and root planning was performed. After results of the treatment bought tears to patient's eyes!We gave our best shot to bring a change in her life. Hope this was helpful.
As a doctor, it is our duty to not only cure the current disease of the patient but also try and eliminate the root causes of it.

Young, confident, beautiful lady visited us for a smile makeover. Her main concern was her broken upper front teeth which she had got treated by other dentist a year back. Composite veneers were done in the concerned area.
We were pleased with the final outcome but more overwhelming was patient's response after seeing her final smile. As per her, she wasn't smiling since long time due to her broken teeth but have regained her smile back after the treatment.

Surgical crown lengthening was performed considering the biologic width of the crown followed by prosthesis of patient's choice. However intense the procedure be, the outcome should always be pleasing and patient approved.

Recently treated a young male patient with tongue tie. Tongue tie is a congenital oral anomaly that may decrease mobility of the tongue tip and is caused by unusually thick lingual frenulum (a membrane connecting the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth). Tongue tie can affect speech, eating and oral hygiene as well as other social effects.
The best treatment is surgical intervention.

It's Monday.. Let the work mode begin.
In order to save supraerupted canine as an abutment for fixed partial denture (as that is what patient want), following are the series of steps done to preserve and stabilize the tooth:
1. Surgical exposure of bony defect mesial to canine.
2. Synthetic bone graft used to fill the defect. Due to insufficient tissue coverage for grafting, connective tissue graft harvested from the palate and sutured to the site.
3. Post-op healing after 2 weeks.
The entire process is done only to save the tooth as every tooth counts.
